This rather smart compact was made by Volupté Inc. (of Fifth Avenue, New York) an American company, which was in production between the 1920s and the late 1950s. They were known for their range of sophisticated compacts, cigarette cases and atomisers. This compact has understated chic!!! The gold tone metal has a ribbed effect, which makes it very tactile.   The locking mechanism is a domed strip of gold tone metal set with clear diamantes. In the picture on the top right hand corner it looks as if these is some damaged, this has been exaggerated in the picture, there is a shadow. In order to open the compact one needs to flip the decoration down to release the lid. Measures 7.5cm.
