This is an extraordinary Celluloid framed bag, which looks as if it may be from the Deco period but is, in fact, later.  The elaborate celluloid frame has been embossed with a beautiful floral design, similar to the celluloid bracelets of the time.  The frame has been stamped Japan.  The remainder of the bag has been “crocheted” in a winter white material.  On the handle there are three crocheted roundels, the one at the top is static but the other two slide up and down the handle, accordingly as a sort of fastening.  The inside has floral trim and white satin lining. Excellent condition. Measures approx. 19x13.5cm
