A simple pair of button earrings, but with beautiful  hand made white wedding cake beads.  This style of bead originated in Venice, they can be quite ornate, but always with a raised decoration and colourful.  Using an open flame to heat rods of glass, which are then applied to the surface of a hand made glass bead, creates the effect.  Throughout the process the bead has to be held over heat, allowing the artisan to apply as many colours as he wishes.  As you can imagine, this process is very intricate and takes great skill.  Adding small amounts of metal, usually copper, to the molten glass, creates the “glitter” effect.  In this case, the white bead has pink flowers, a touch of blue and quite a bit of the “glitter” effect.  Clip fittings.  Measures 2cm
