stamped - Wedgwood, made in England
Josiah Wedgwood founded his company in 1759. His newly created earthenware caught the eye of Queen Charlotte, as a result, it quickly became the latest fashion accessory!!!! The Company did not just stick to items for the home, they started making Jasper Ware jewellery, which was popular throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. This pretty Japser ware brooch/pendant has a white classical scene on a black background. The scene has three figures ad a winged horse. The Jasper ware has been set in a gold tone frame with a twisted edge. It is difficult to date these pieces accurately but I would say that this one if between the 1950’s and 1970’s. It has a hinged bale which will allow the brooch to be suspended from a chain. Measures 4cm
