During, and just after, the war years materials to make jewellery were scarce so the designers looked at using other substitutes to make fun and colourful pieces to lift peoples spirits. These reversed carved lucite brooches became very popular. This brooch is made of clear lucite and although the flowers looks almost real, they are not!! The lucite has been carved and painted with a rich autumnal colours. The picture has been carved in from the reverse of the pin giving a 3d effect. Measures 5.2x4.5cm There is some minor surface scratching, but this is expected on a piece of this age and material.
