Lea Stein, a French trained artist who was born in Paris in 1931, began making her whimsical pieces of jewellery in 1969, when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, came up with a process of laminating layers of rhodoid (cellulose acetate sheets) with interesting textures and colours. The layers were baked overnight with a secret component and then cut into shapes for various designs and items of jewellery.  As you can see from the designs, Lea Stein's work is heavily influenced by the Art Deco period.  This cute little roller skater is one of the older more rare designs (between 1968-81). His very cute in his tortoiseshell cap and off white jersey.  he certainly has the thumbs up with us at Chic and Unique.   Measures 4.6x3.8cm.
