During the depression years people wanted bright colourful jewellery that was in expensive to jazz up their plain clothing.  Bakelite was a great material enabling big, bright and bold pieces of jewellery to be created relatively inexpensively.  These pieces have now become highly collectible.  Here we have a translucent bangle in an apple juice/amber colour. The bangle has been carved around the inside to give the bracelet a lovely soft pattern on the outside.  Measures approx. 20x1.4cm.  There are one or two spots where it looks as if there may be an air bubble or a slight flaw in the carving (see picture 2), these  appear to be original to the bracelet.
